frank lara

Frank Lara is a bilingual teacher and a South City dad. He worked in the classroom for more than a decade, so he knows what our kids need. He also knows how working people win what they need, because he has led them to major victories.

That is who Frank is. He brings parents, teachers, and staff together, and he fights alongside them to win for working people. He is running for Trustee to make sure South City families decide the future of South City schools.

Frank knows how school funding works, and he puts that knowledge to work for working people. He serves on the California Teachers Association's Financing Public Education Committee, where the state's school-budget fights are fought. The California Teachers Association has endorsed his campaign - he’s the educator-backed candidate. As a union leader, he has held district administration accountable on staffing, and organized educators to win back fair pay when a broken payroll system shorted thousands of them. This year, he led 6,000+ educators to win family healthcare and safe, sanctuary schools for all families.

Frank grew up in a working family in the border town of Calexico, raised by immigrant parents. He has spent his life fighting for immigrant and working families. He organized for immigrant rights in college, helped lead a 3,000-student march against family separation, and helped raise more than $100,000 for undocumented families left out of federal COVID relief.

Frank is an organizer with the Party for Socialism and Liberation and a member of the Peace and Freedom Party of California. A socialist endorsed by our independent socialist party, he will get the job done for workers no matter what.

Our kids deserve the best schools. They deserve a trustee who fights alongside us and wins. Frank is that fighter.
